Tiger Ranch 2nd Preliminary Hearing Update April 28, 2008!!

Tiger Ranch Linda Bruno Jailed Today ~ Sentencing Delayed! Update Oct 5, 2009 View Here!

Tiger Ranch Linda Bruno faces over 500 animal cruelty charges today, in her now second preliminary hearing. Due to the large amount of media, supporters for and against, and witnesses for the Tiger Ranch case, today's hearing took place in the Allegheny Courthouse. Prosecuters presented video and recordings of the raid on Tiger Ranch March 13, 2008, where the SPCA claims to have taken dozens of sick and dying cats from the premises.

Richard Manning Allegheny County Sheriffs Detective testified about the unfit conditions of the Tiger Ranch property, and also the sickly condition of the cats. He said "The majority of the cats appeared to be lethargic." 100 cats were also found in the freezer. Bruno claims that the cold ground too hard to bury the cats. She also claims cats were planted and moved to different parts of the shelter when video was taped.

Linda Bruno maintains her innocence saying "I'm blessed, humbled, and honored by my supporters." Her online petition has almost 500 signatures in support of her cause! Linda Bruno Quotes Today: "God says he never forsakes the righteous." "You'll see the righteous win." Her other famous quote: "Like A Phoenix From The Ashes Tiger Ranch Will Rise Again."

More testimony tomorrow, as we wait for the judges decision whether the case will go to trial!

Dandelions ~ A Bad Wrap!

A lot of us welcome Spring with open arms, but for the most part folks are very
unappreciative of the yellow dandelion sprouting throughout their yards. Hundreds of dandelions can make a perfect yard enthusiast pull out their hair literally by the roots. Yet the dandelion is a perfect yellow spring flower, adding tiny bits of the sun to green landscapes. I remember as a child along with my little friends, picking these yellow dollops and rubbing the yellow flower pollen to our wrists to see if we liked butter. Of course we all liked butter! Also when my sisters and I would build our little tent houses, we would always have a huge stash of dandelion flower food in our pretend pantry.

Talk about food, dandelions are a great source of vitamin A, C, Iron, and calcium. The greens can be boiled or saute, and dressed with garlic, beacon, vinegar or butter. White sap from stem and roots have been used to treat warts. Flowers are made into dandelion wine, or jam. Dandelions are an important part of the ecosystem by attracting ladybugs, which in turn eat pest aphids. When dandelion plants die off, their long roots naturally fertilize the soil.

So maybe before we spend hundreds of dollars to eliminate dandelions, we might want to take a closer look at all the wonderful benefits this yellow faceted flower has to offer!

Spring Splendor Flowers And Images!

My daily walk in the woods with my chocolate lab reveals that Spring has finally sprung. Brown-black barren limbs are sprouting buds, and draping the drab horizon with wonderful sprigs of lush green.

I found a patch of these beautiful daffodil buds growing smack in the middle of thick dead brush and leaves. You can see some of the dead leaves laying around the edges of the green foilage.

These are the same daffodils above which bloomed a couple days later. Seemed so out of place in all the dead of Winter brush. Beautiful yellow blossoms among the ruins!

Lastly is my beautiful white lilac flowers which just bloomed. These delicate star shaped flowers give off a sweet fragrance which scented my whole kitchen. The earth has awakened with much more beauty yet to come, here on literally in the moment!

Join Me To Help Stop Puppy Mills!!!

I could not stop thinking about the Oprah show last Friday. Her segment covered puppy mills. Sadly the largest one is right here in my own state, which I had no idea. You will be totally amazed at what goes on in these puppy mills. Oprah's show was very educational in showing the puppy mills, and what the animals go through! I had to turn off the TV at one point where they were euthanizing dogs at a shelter to make room! These were perfectly healthy and beautiful dogs. My heart was broken just thinking about it! They have to put down more than 40 dogs per day, could you imagine having to pick the ones to put down!! Here is an article on Oprah about Fort Worth Animal Shelter: http://www.oprah.com/world/global/slide/200804/global_20080404_114.jhtml

An eye opening video on dog auctions

Latest Tiger Ranch Update:
Tiger Ranch Linda Bruno Jailed Today ~ Sentencing Delayed! Update Oct 5, 2009!

Charges against Tiger Ranch Cat Sanctuary have been re-filed today. Ower Linda Bruno has been recharged with 574 counts of cruelty to animals. Her new preliminary hearing is set for April 17, 2008. Charges were dismissed on her first hearing last Thursday. New Video appears here: http://kdka.com/video/?id=40034@kdka.dayport.com

Tiger Ranch fundraiser and donation information:

I've been informed by a source on my blog here online , that Tiger Ranch is fundrasing for supplies and food for the cats when they come back, and also to help with court costs in the case against Tiger Ranch. All food and supplies were taken in the Tiger Ranch raid on March 13 & 14th, 2008.

I tried to log on the original Tiger Ranch site ~www.tigerranch.org, but the site is down. I assume due to the case pending litigation. Here is the site the source gave to me where they are accepting donations ~ Tiger Ranch

You can also give your support by buying Tiger Ranch merchandise on zazzle.com:

The buttons have a picture of a beautiful cat behind a wire fence. A photo which urges the world to adopt pets from shelters. Pets are not truly happy unless they have a loving owner of their own. Each and everyone of us can make that happen, either by adopting or donating! I hope that beautiful cat was not put down.! I just recently adoped my cat OP from a no kill shelter, I just love him! Maybe we can all make a difference instead of fighting, but banning together for the sake of the cats. Making sure Tiger Ranch if allowed to continue , has the resources and funding to do so. Animals like poetry have always been my lifelong passion!!

Tiger Ranch Cat Sanctuary Owner Charges Dismissed Today!!! New Video!

Latest Tiger Ranch Update:
Tiger Ranch Linda Bruno Jailed Today ~ Sentencing Delayed! Update Oct 5, 2009!

The district justice dropped all animal cruelty charges against Linda Bruno, owner of Tiger Ranch Cat Sanctuary, in a preliminary hearing today. The prosecution failed to prove she intentionally wanted to neglect all the cats who were under her care at Tiger Ranch. Chris Derose of Last Chance for Animals said "The only charge that can be brought against her is that she doesn't believe in euthanasia." The prosecution will have to review each charge in detail, and refile the case in which they plan to do. Animal rights activists stood outside the district justice office, with photos of the abused cats found at Tiger Ranch, while other Tiger Ranch supporters cheered as Linda Bruno left the district justice office. The case has divided animal rights organizations over the kill or no kill controversy. Tiger Ranch is a no kill shelter. We now wait to see if the case will go to court! Updated video and commentary on her short preliminary hearing here:

Two Years ~ A Tribute To My Japanese Mother

Two Years

Two years has slipped away from us,
cried a thousand tears
hardly a day passes, I don’t well up
missing you in a particular moment.
No more phone calls to hear your sweet
accented voice talking on the other end

No more telling me “Please don’t put
black pepper on the mashed potatoes!.”

Two years of empty holidays missing
your extraordinary smile, reminiscing
gazing into your dark soulful eyes.
Two new beautiful grandsons you
never had the chance to see or spoil.
Not sure where to place all the grief
as time relentlessly continues on.

I’ve gone on...
but it’s as if I just merely exist,
like life transcends right through me.
Feeling numb down to the bone
stripped away by painful raw emotions,
which have turned hard as stone...

A cold shinny black stone
all that is left of a vibrant lifetime,
a whole lifetime loving you.
Two years reliving bygone memories,
two years relinquishing you to death.

How fast time passes! Sunday April 6, 2008 will mark two years my mother has been gone. She was not only my mother, but my father, and every relative I never had. Spring is a celebration of rebirth, but now it has become a sad commoration of the day my mother passed away. She died with her small family keeping vigil all through the night.

She always had a touch of class, incredibly neat in all she did. She raised three daughters in a foreign country, and she hardly knew anyone. She was strong and endured many hardships throughout her lifetime. She loved Mcdonald's cheeseburgers, and Kentucky fried chicken. We should have been born as sisters, for we had so much fun hanging out together. I have started to work on a memoir of her life, her passing has been an immeasurable loss to our family.
