Proposition 2 HAS PASSED! We Did It!!!!

Thanks to voters and animal activists everywhere for clinching the vote on Proposition 2. Factory animals will eventually be spared from living in cramped living quarters, and be able to move about more freely in their cages. Wayne Pacelle President of The Humane Society of the United States sponsored Propostion 2 as a part of his mission against inhumane animal conditions.

As an avid animal lover I'm elated to hear the news. We eat most of these animals, and they deserve to live their short lives in decent humane conditions. Modern times are a changing, for the better. I cannot honestly look at these animals living in factory farms, and not feel sorrow for their plight. It'll be an undertaking for the farmers, which to me are the heart of the world's foodchain. They'll be compensated for their new renovations, and they can also feel good about the ethical treatment of their animals.

I never knew this kind of thing going on there... You are right. They have right to live free. What we do for money is dreadful...

Hey Ochi,

I believe animals do need to be confined, otherwise they'd be everywhere! What do they do in Japan with mass animals to be butchered? Just wondering!

YOu got that right D.B. The law passed because the people voted for it! Seems to have to go through so much red tape in government!

YAY!!! Good for you! Good for them! It's a good thing.

Yes it's a good thing Joyce. I don't think it's come my way yet, and I'm sure the farmers won't be happy!

Glad to read the news. Many chicken farms around here and a larger Tyson plant not too far from here. Just treat the animals humanely. I hope that will happen.

At least, in the day, animals were raised on the farm and fed grains and not crammed into cages and not given steroids and loads of antibbiotics. I think this country could see some renewed growth if we could, once again, rely on the family farmer. For me, in a rural area, that would be easier, but I now not so easy for city dwellers

On the flip side, the city folk have all the great herns, spices, veggies, ethnic selections, and fish I can't get here.

I guess most things are a trade-off, but there is no reason to not treat this creatures humanely.

Good for you for standing up so strongly for them. I admire you so.

I agree Maggie,

They did show a farm which had hens running around freely. It was wonderful to see, like you said was back in the day.

I think won't be long until Prop 2 is implemented everywhere. There is a lot I'm very naive about, but I can't stand to see animals suffer!

Jo, I was trying to find an old black & white photo of my wife's grandmother. She is surrounded by at least a hundred chickens and she's throwing handfuls of cracked corn to them. You certainly don't see that anymore.

Hey Dan,

They did show a chicken farm on the Oprah show, where they leave the chickens to run free. They do exist, and can exist! I would love to see that old photo, love those black and whites.
