Justice For Dentist John Yelenic

Justice is finally being served in a nearly 3 year old murder case of Blairsville, PA. Dentist Dr. John Yelenic. The trial began on Monday March 9, 2009, in Indiana county. Dr. Yelenic was brutally stabbed and attacked to death in his home on April 13, 2006. He was only 39.
State trooper Kevin Foley has been charged with the murder of Dr. Yelenic. Prosecution has connected a bloody footprint, skin from DNA samples found under Dr. John Yelenic’s fingernails, and a scratch on Foley's face which appeared after the murder. The murder took place the day before a divorce between John and his separated wife was to be final. John and Michele Yelenic also have an adopted son J.J. Trooper Kevin Foley was also living with Dr. Yelenic’s wife Michele at the time of the murder.

Kevin Foley’s defense claims that evidence is misleading and will be trying to prove reasons the jury should not believe in the evidence. Their key witness is Dr. John Yelenic’s ex-wife, who states Kevin Foley was with her the night of Dr. Yelenic’s murder!
Dr. Cyril Wecht gave graphic testimony on Tuesday March 10, 2009 describing the fatal wounds Dr. John Yelenic suffered including knife stab wounds, his throat slashed from both ears, and in trying to escape to the front door, the murderer put his head through a pane in the door. The force was so hard, it pierced his jugular. Dr. Wecht said he survived another 9 minutes before bleeding to death. They described the crime scene photos as "horrific!" Blood loss was so massive blood leaked from the first floor to the basement!

What a terrible way to die. Dr. John Yelenic was a client of my husbands. John was a friend and a nice guy. He did not deserve to be murdered in this horrible way. All John wanted was a family of his own. He was a very compassionate and giving man. John had a thriving dental practice. The photo I came across above was taken years ago, when John had joined us one Christmas eve. My husband and I are watching this case intently, hoping that justice will finally be served for Dr. John, his family, and friends.

Hi jo,

3 years should have been a long time... I know many cases like that here in Japan, too. Bereaved people are having a long day.

I first thought this was your work of fiction. I can't believe this kind of thing taking place close to you. I hope everything goes well!!!

What a sad story, Jo. I hope justice will be served. All the more reason to keep a 'few rounds of justice' in your home. Depending on the circumstances you might not be able to get to it in time, but without it you have no chance.

Hi Ochi,

Yes 3 years is a long time, but hopefully enought time to build a good case!

Yes this would make some work of fiction. Horrible things happen everywhere!

Hey Dan,

We are covered here, but I'd probrably forget how to use it! Everyone needs to know how to use a few rounds, certainly wouldn't hurt! John's story is sad! He had his whole life still ahead of him.

What a horrible way to die! My goodness, and you knew this poor man, you must be terribly sad!I hope this murderer is punished for what he committed. I sometimes see Cyril Wecht on the news so I know who you are talking about. It must be especially painful knowing the victim so well!

Jo A. T.B. said...

Yes it is very sad Nazarina, not only business wise, but friendship wise. John died a week after my mother, and he signed a sympathy card to me. This is the John we knew good and kind! We're watching the case daily!

How doubly sad you knew him. It must be painful for you. Yes, we need justice on this case.

Hi Jo,

It's very sad, with all the evidence coming out on how he died. I'm sure John was so scared, I only wish someone had been there with him!

I went to college with John. I can't believe I just heard about this horrific incident today. John was a wonderful person. I can't get this tragedy out of my mind especially to such an amazing and generous person. My heart is extremely heavy ~ John was one of a kind ~ doing what he dreamed - a dentist - he talked about it all the time at Juniata

Sorry Jelias for my late response. I can't believe you only heard of it today. It was a much broadcast case. Great to know John had many good friends!

why wasn't that cunt michelle arrested and charged?

I was surprised myself that she was totally exonerated in John's case. What comes around goes around! In the end, everyone get their fair dues!!

Hey Jo,I just heard about this case today and am outraged and disgusted with the whole INJUSTICE SYSTEM! Michele was clearly the catalyst behind this murder. She was the only one who had a motive and the only one who would benefit financially from the murder! DA's today are a total disgrace. They only care about how their own records look.Rather than take a chance at losing a case at trial, they will plea bargain with true monsters because it goes down as a win in their portfolio.Bastards! In this case they had more than enough proof that Michele was the mastermind behind this bloodbath for one.She should be right beside Foley in prison!

My husband and I keep missing John's story on ID, we don't get this channel! Yes, we're happy Justice has come for our friend Dr. John. Yelenic. Sadly Dr. John has been gone this year will be the 10th anniversary of his death and murder. I intend to keep our friend's story alive for along time to come!

That wife needs to hang for her part. I can’t believe she wasn’t charged for lying on Dr Yelnic of molesting his son. If she don’t pay in life. She will definitely pay in death.

Hi Jo, this is such a sad story. I saw it on ID, poor soul. All he wanted was a family and he fot murder instead. I am convinced Michele was the mastermind. Did she end up keeping his money after his death? I hope she did not get a penny, that greedy bit(#..

Hello Jo, I am from Southamerica and I just saw the case in ID discovery channel. My analyssis is that wife Michelle Yelenic felt a profund envy of her husband, that people loved him, it seems she resented his kindness and success. So she was the instigator all the time, maybe years previuos of his murder. It's so sad, as a woman is incomprehensible how there can be such a being. She is perverse, evil, worst kind of human being, she commited the worst treason. She deserves jail!!!!

Hello all. I just saw the story on Dateline (NBC) and thought they did a pretty good job. But there are a few questions: 1) Is Michelle free, raising the three kids? 2) In the same town? 3) Did she get the one million dollar insurance money? 4) Did she remarry? 5) Did the Trooper appeal or confess? A sad story.

Did she get the life insurance? His money, house? Practice?
She is guilty, they did not find proof because they did not want.
Outsiders got justice, local enforcement did squat.

I watched the NBC Dateline episode of this and, my gosh, it was the saddest thing I have ever seen. Michele did everything in her power to take down John, professionally, by having him thrown in jail for no cause, and for coaxing her boyfriend into murdering him. I hope that Michele is brought to justice one day soon. It's a shame that she was let off scott free. THey need to just give this investigation a little more effort. She was definitely involved. What "wife" doesn't show up at the funeral of her husband? Obviously, a wife who was involved in the murder. Like the police said, she might not have participated the night of the murder, but she definitely fueled the fire between her boyfriend and John, and she made it a point to have the boyfriend hate him to the point of murder. I hope that their son J.J. realizes that his father loved him so much and that he was his father's whole world. I read that Michele is living in Savannah, GA. She needs to be brought to justice, and fast!!!!!

Unknown said...

Yes, unfortunately, Michele got the 7-figure life insurance policy, as well as everything else John had. Such injustice for them to hand over everything to the murderer/instigator/accomplice!

Unknown said...

Who is Gannon Foley? Michelle and Gannon Foley own the Savannah condo?

Jo A. T.B. said...

Not sure who Gannon Foley is, possibly one of the adopted children? Don’t know where Michele n kids live. Did anyone see the two hour special ran on dateline last night? May have been a rerun. Hubby and I caught the last hour. It’s still so incredibly sad to us, as we knew Dr. John, to relive his terrible death years later. We’re happy at least someone is behind bars for his murder. Dr. John was a great guy, and didn’t deserve to die in such a horrific way. So glad his cousin and local police officer continued to pursue John’s death. We miss Dr. John to this day, RIP.

I just read Carlton Smith’s excellent book on this case, and I’m horrified that Michele went unpunished AND got to keep all of the money, including his million dollar life insurance. Yes, the person who wielded the knife is in prison, but SHE was the catalyst for everything that happened. If Kevin had never met her, John would still be alive. And he sounded like such a wonderful man. I’m going to keep hoping that they have enough evidence to get Michele one day, too, and she ends up in prison as well.
