The Happy Hunter!

My husband shot an 8 point on Monday night, the 1st day of hunting season here in Steeler country. My brother-in-law also shot an 8 point in the same area. The deer are so beautiful with their big black noses, reminds me of Rudolph! The guy in camo with the miner light on his head, not too shabby either.
I don't particularly like to look at something I eat, makes me feel quilty. Out of sight, out of mind so to speak. We'll have plenty of ground meat, tips, and roasts from this big boy! I'll have to weigh the meat to see how many pounds we get from him. Will last us through Winter and first part of Spring. My husband is going back out on Saturday, doe season starts then, but he has a license to shoot another two buck if he wants. I was happy he got one, last year we had none!
When we were first married I asked him, how he could spend so much time in the woods? I grew to see the beauty that he sees in the world around him. I saw wild turkeys, and once me and Delilah and my daughter came upon baby turkeys. They were so cute.
The photo in my blogger header is of the road beside my home. There are cow pastures on both sides of the road, and you can see the fence posts. To the left is a great acreage of woods, where so much wildlife lives. It's so peaceful, definitely a paradise to live out our days. I named the winter photo in my blog header endless roads, because the road looks as if it goes on forever. Like Alice in Wonderland! Ha! Ha!
My daughter gets the credit for my husband's photo, my camera doesn't take good night photos!

Did you say you want some turkeys? Oh boy, do I have some turkeys for you! They go parading through our yard every day. I'll start them marching down Rte. 22. Maybe they'll make it to your place by sundown. Hahahahahaha.

Yeah Jo,

If they don't get massacred first, you know 22 has no mercy for any living thing! They'll need to take an alternate route if they wanna survive! The babies are pretty darn cute, aren't they!

Congrats to you hubbie! My only hope for meat in the freezer is a late season(2nd week of Jan), but normally I can't stand the extreme temps!

When babies they're cute. After seeing a mature gobbler up close, my wife who has no interest in hunting whatsoever, said "They're so ugly I think I might be able to shoot one of those!"

Whoa! Dan, how can a nurse talk that way!!!!!! P.S. Did you have a BM today? Snort!

Yes I know Dan,

The mother hen was there trying to shoo us away, and she was one ugly mean bird!

Pretty hard for me to shoot something unless it was actually attacking me or one of my animals. But your wife is pretty funny saying that. I know her thinking even hard to shoot something cute!

OMG Jo, Do you have a big enough freezer! Ha! ha! I am really looking forward to some of your recipes for this big prize!!!!
I loved your last comment on my blog about your Mom!It was very touching for me!!!
Your surroundings sound very much like mine here in Colorado. I live very close to the mountain and sometimes I spot a fox or a mountain cat or two!

Hi jo,

Wow! Congrats!
Dan's comment was funny, ha-ha!
Who is going to cut up??? I can never ever do that... aren't you afraid?

Your hubbie is cool and looks gentle ;)

I like your winter pic! It really matches your template ;)

Yes I do have a big enough freezer Nazarina. I have a huge freezer, where I store all my vegetables from summer, and meats I can stock up on too.

You and I have a deep and respectable bond for our families, especially our mothers.

My neighbors have spotted coyotes here , but I've never seen one.

Hi Ochi,

Thanks, I'll let you know how much meat we get! We have it butchered.

Yes Dan is a real pistol, love his humor!

Hubby is a good man, I think I'll keep him!

I love this new template, because I can change the colors to match my photography! The backround colors set the tone, for a beautiful shot!
