Grand Funk Railroad Rocked Pittsburgh Ribfest 2009!
We drove for an hour and a half and arrived in Pittburgh last Saturday September 9, 2009. A beautiful Pittsburgh sunset greeted us as we headed toward Heinz Field to the Ribfest!
Jill West and Blues Attack was rocking out the Blues as we walked through the enormous Heinz Field entrance. I shot the photo sign above last year during the Ribfest 2008! Last year it was stifling hot!
The SIX Pittsburgh Steeler Lombardi trophies were on display for everyone to photograph in the exibit! Here are photos of them building the huge super bowl replica trophy exibit!
Grand Funk Railroad an old favorite rock band of ours appeared on stage at 9:00 P.M. They rocked the huge crowd and summerlike air with their trademark songs: Locomotion, I'm Your Captain, Shinin On, Some Kind Of Wonderful, many more and lastly their signature song We're An American Band. Was a great trip into my past remembering listening to these songs on the radio! 2009 marked 40 years for Grand Funk Railroad. 40 Years Of Funk! We had a great time good eats and entertainment! There's a lot of rock and rollers in the Pittsburgh area!

Farewell Michael Jackson ~ Phenomenal Muscian and Song Artist!
Michael Jackson a phenomenal musician and song artist, will forever live in the gifted songs he gave to the world. Michael Jackson was not only the King of Pop, but he could also Rock as seen here in one of my favorite videos Dirty Diana. Michael's performances absolutely sensational. I only wish I had the chance to see him in concert. Michael was so hot in this video, and at the top of his game!
The whole world mourns Michael, and I'll always be an avid fan of his great music and incredible dance moves. Michael Jackson's music and dance mesmerized generations, and will live for many generations to come. His influence on the music and dance world is unprecedented. Michael was also a humanitarian, and raised millions of dollars in aid.
Unfortunately Michael Jackson will never have the chance to make his big comeback! He had so much yet to offer us, his wonderful entertaining artistry unsurpassed! Michael Jackson's legacy will continue to endure throughout all time, and he'll certainly be missed in our music entertainment world. He's one of the greatest musicians in music history!
If only Michael knew the magnitude of love that surrounded his magnificent talent! Michael Jackson was and always will be the embodiment of cool!

My Three Inspirations ~ Tag ~ Rock of Ages!
The Book: This Is My Beloved ~ By Walter Benton Published Feb 1, 1943 by Alfred A. Knopf, Inc. This was his first published book, and the paper cover which covers the hard cover is so tattered and torn. I purchased the book at a yard sale in my teens, and still to this day I love his passionate work. The very first entry is one of my favorite Walter Benton poems:
Entry April 28
Because hate is legislated . . . written into
the primer and the testament,
Because our day is of time, of hours --- and the clock-hand turns,
closes the circle upon us: and black timeless night
sucks us in like quicksand, receives us totally --
without a raincheck or a parachute, a key to heaven or the last long look
I need love more than ever now . . . I need your love,
I need love more than hope or money, wisdom or a drink
Because slow negative death withers the world -- and your hands are tender and your mouth is sweet -- and God has made no other eyes like yours.
~Walter Benton~
The Movie: Like Ozy I love the movie Blade Runner. The way our world is headed toward high technology as the movie depicts. Believing love and humanity is still the center of our universe, no matter how technical and inhuman the world becomes. The ending quoted from Rutger Hauer "All those moments will be lost... like tears in rain," by Roy Batty is one of my favorite quotes which I had on my PassionsFlame bio page.
Older movies which influenced me: Love Story famous quote "Love means you never have to say you're sorry," and Born Free ~ I love the movie theme song Born Free, which is the ultimate tear jerker song for the movie sung best by Andy Williams here:
The Music: My favorite all time band is Def Leopard, love all their songs from the Hysteria album. We caught them in Pittsburgh at station square two years ago, awesome concert! Tesla was a great opening band, but Def Leopard was rockin! I remember there was a guy in front of me kept falling backwards onto me! He was pleasantly shit faced, and he told us the concert tickets were a birthday gift from his daughter. His daughter was also going to chaperone him home, which he really needed! He was a trip to watch too! We had a blast, it was an unforgettable concert! Rock of Ages by Def Leopard ~
So there you go my three inspirations from a diverse person ~ Andy Williams to Def Leopard. I am a Rock of Ages! I tag all my blogger friends you know who you are!

My Favorite Love Song! What's Yours!
Time In A Bottle has remained through the years, my favorite love song. Remarkably resonating more in my life today, with timeless lyrics, and a tear jerking melody. Jim Croce had written this beautiful song for his son A.J. at his birth. Along with his wife Ingrid, the world was shocked by Jim Croce's sudden death. Killed in a 1973 plane crash with his musician sidekick Maury Muehleisen, after performing a concert in Louisiana. Jim Croce was only 30, and Maury Muehleisen only 24, both dying at the pinnacle of their music careers.
Jim Croce was inducted into The Songwriters Hall Of Fame in 1990, and has been paid tribute by the band Queen , and also The Righteous Brothers.
Ingrid Croce has created a wonderful website in honor of her late husband Jim Croce: Jim Croce - The Official Site which is still a work in progress. I especially enjoyed reading through Ingrid's autobiography section, which she tells about her life with their son after her husbands's death. Ingrid's strength to keep his legacy alive, is thriving in her Croce’s restaurant & Jazz bar located in San Diego. She has helped with the production of new Jim Croce CD’s and DVD’s, T.V. segments on PBS, and her autobiographical cookbook "Thyme In A Bottle," is in it’s third publication. Nice to know Ingid is remarried, and doing well in spite of all the sadness she had to endure in the past.
All Jim Croce’s songs are a major cornerstone in American music, and his songs and voice will remain an icon for generations to come.
